Planning a wedding is definitely overwhelming; think of all the details you’ll be worrying about: the centerpieces, the napkins, the food, the flowers, invitation cards, your guests, the seating, the music, the entrance, your hair, your dress and the list goes on and on. It’s common to forget simple things like your bouquet or taking your make up appointment; so you’ll have to stay organized. Below are some tools I used that definitely helped during my wedding planning phase; I advise you to use these tools even if you have a wedding planner.
Budget Tracker
Create a simple excel sheet where you list payments you’ll be doing for your wedding. Here you should include the initial budget, confirmed budget, deposits paid & remaining balance. By doing so, you’d be forecasting your wedding expenses; then confirming your budgets (this will allow you to minimize chances of deviating from your initial budget); make sure you track all deposits paid because you will definitely forget some payments done.
A Wedding Checklist
This checklist has tasks you should do 9 months prior to your wedding; every month holds a new to-do list and covers all the details of the wedding & with their deadlines. I used the wedding checklist provided by The Knot wedding website (theknot.com). It was comprehensive with approx 200 tasks, simple, and covered everything I needed to do prior to the wedding.
An Inspiration Board
As you’ll be doing alot of wedding research to help you decide on all the details of your wedding, make sure you save all the ideas you like. You can do that by having a wedding folder or an inspiration board on Pintrest or StyleMePretty. My advice to you is to save every single detail you like because chances are you won’t come across them again and you might forget them.
A Wedding Journal
Keep a wedding journal with you where ever you go; I attached a picture of mine (Journal, Accessorize; Pen, Swarovski). Jot down ideas you like; you’ll be getting inspirations from the least expected places. It will be a really cute memory when the wedding is all over.
Loved the idea of having a wedding journal….great post wedding memory indeed! ….waiting for more advice 🙂
Nour thank you for your comment; I’m glad to know you liked the idea of having a wedding journal too.
